Where's the love?

As if e-mails, calls and comments about our work from concerned readers aren't enough. Where can I get a cheap Kevlar vest?

One more day

On Thursday, 24-year-old Parker Dalton faced his first game with the Great Lakes Loons. "I have the gift of life–still," said Dalton, who credits God for healing him of the malignant melanoma that left a lemon-shaped scar on his back. "And so then here I am. I look at baseball, and I still have the gift of baseball."
Parker noted that some of his teammates wondered why I was doing a story on him. After all, he doesn't have a father named Don Mattingly or Andy Van Slyke, he's the utility player, and he is the oldest guy on the team. I told him that perhaps they didn't know his story. How could I not do a story on a guy who, just a day earlier, sat with me in an upper box for half an hour and exuded excitement about being able to play one more time?
Every team needs a Parker Dalton.
