Schmidty

I've been hanging out with the Meridian High wrestling team since November and went to the Traverse City area with them this past Saturday for the individual district meet. Josh Schmidt advanced to the regional meet by pinning his opponent in the third period of his third match of the day. "Schmidty" and I are both kind of quiet when we don't know people very well and I think we both opened up to each other a bit this past weekend, partly because we rode in a cramped van together. I once asked Schmidty, after the team's loss to Mayville back in January: "Whattya know?"

His response was characteristically simple ... and dead on: "13 points."

Some guy with a camera down below told me I couldn't see the wrestlers from up here. I said that depends on what you're looking for.
