alex comes to Michigan

Alex came to Michigan today. When he arrived his potential future landlord, oscillating between congeniality and churlishness, declared he would not take Alex's out-of-state Bank of America check. Apparently Michigan is no longer part of the Union. Nonetheless, not to be dissuaded (or, rather, to avoid having to sleep on my floor and drink half-caff coffee), Alex settled on plan B - the spacious first floor of a house on the westside. Embracing prudence, Alex chose not to wait on his dithering 'friend' in the next town over (friends, after all, show up in times of need) and unloaded the entire Uhaul by himself in one hour. When I arrived, and after laboring 'intensely' for oh, say, five minutes, we decided to grab some pizza.

I decided to skip town and enjoy some time at a now-favorite haunt. The cold feeling of these pics belies the warmth of the afternoon hours of the day.
